Psychometric Properties of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to check the psychometric properties of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ). Method: The sample consisted of 409 higher school students with a mean and SD age 14.5 and 4.5 respectively. The cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scales (DASS) were used in this study. Results: Principle component factor analysis revealed that there is a seventh factor structure for CERQ. Alpha coefficients and test-retest reliability showed a good internal consistency and reliability for subscales of the CERQ. Also the correlation coefficient between DASS score and the subscales of the CERQ present an acceptable convergent and divergent validity for the subscales of the CERQ. Conclusion: In sum the results showed the properties of the psychometric indexes for the Persian version of the CERQ for research job.
