Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was effectiveness of Gross emotion regulation model on emotional distress and emotional eating behavior on overweight female students of Islamic Azad University of Karaj.
Method: undergraduate female students of Islamic Azad University In 1395, considering the inclusion criteria, 40 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. In order to determine the level of emotional distress Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) With an overall scale and its six subscales were used. Then Gross emotion regulation model, during the eight sessions of 90 minutes was applied to the experimental group. Data from pre-test and post-test experimental and control groups, were analyzed at a significance level 05/0.
Results: Analysis of covariance showed Gross emotion regulation model on emotional distress and its six subscales and emotional eating behavior of overeating female students of Islamic Azad University of Karaj is effective. The difference between the two groups at post-test, a statistically significant difference. p0/005.
Conclusion: after Intervention program, a significant reduction in emotional distress and eating behavior due to emotion regulation in the experimental group than the control group were observed. These findings suggest that the way in which emotions are set on eating behavior by reducing emotional distress is effective.
